OpenAI launched ChatGPT Images 2.5 on September 8. The company says the update improves detail, reference-image fidelity and consistency across successive edits. It also reports generation latency reductions of up to 50 percent against Images 2.0; that figure comes from OpenAI, not an independent production test.

In ChatGPT, users can sketch a composition, place comments on particular parts of an image and start from templates for formats such as product photos. OpenAI also introduced Flare and Sunburst models through its API, with Sunburst aimed at work that needs more precision and can tolerate longer generation times.

For a studio or ecommerce team, a useful first test is a sequence of revisions to the same asset. Check whether packaging text, garment construction and the subject’s identity survive each change before adopting the tool for client deliverables.
