This Privacy Policy explains how The Human Input ("The Human Input," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information when you use thehumaninput.xyz and its connected services.
Effective date: 5 September 2026.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Accounts and sign-in. Your email address, authentication identifiers, profile and display information, preferences, saved records, watchlists, notification settings, and account-security records.
- Newsletter and Pro updates. Your email address, consent and subscription status, and, for the Pro waitlist, your role, organization, requested capability, source page, and withdrawal record.
- Requests and submissions. Information you submit for advertising inquiries, opportunity review, contributor work, corrections, or correspondence. A selected opportunity file is not uploaded by the current form. Contact, tip, and correction pages open your email application rather than uploading the draft to this website.
Information collected automatically
- Technical and security data. Internet Protocol address, browser and device information, request time, requested URL, referring page, and similar logs that hosting, authentication, abuse-prevention, and security services ordinarily receive.
- Publication activity. Public page paths and bounded events such as page views, article completion, source-link use, newsletter offers, or advertising interactions. These records may include locale, placement, or plan context but are designed not to include names, email addresses, account identifiers, URL queries, or private routes.
- Browser-local data. Theme, recent and saved reading, visit timing, and non-sensitive opportunity-draft fields may be stored in your browser. The opportunity draft excludes the email address and selected file.
How we use information
We use information to operate and secure the publication; authenticate accounts; provide reader preferences, saves, watchlists, and notifications; deliver requested newsletters and account messages; manage waitlists, corrections, submissions, advertising requests, and contributor work; measure aggregate readership and service health; prevent abuse; enforce our policies; comply with law; and protect readers, contributors, the publication, and others.
Analytics, browser storage, and advertising
Authentication and requested account features use essential session storage. Other browser-local records support theme, reading continuity, and draft recovery and can be cleared through your browser. Open Analytics is configured without browser storage, for aggregate measurement, and to respect Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals. The Human Input also records a small allowlist of aggregate publication events in its own database.
Current paid placements are selected by publication context and human review, not by a profile of your activity across unrelated services. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly defined.
When information is disclosed
We disclose information only as needed to operate the service, follow your instructions, complete a transaction you request, protect rights and safety, or comply with law. Current service providers include Vercel for hosting, Supabase for database and authentication services, Beehiiv for newsletters, Resend for service email, Open Analytics for aggregate analytics, Google for optional sign-in, Cloudflare Turnstile for abuse prevention, and Unsplash when a browser loads a hosted editorial image. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices.
We may also disclose information in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice where required. Public submissions or credits are visible by their nature; we will not treat information you ask us to publish as private.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including providing the service, preserving editorial and consent records, honoring suppression requests, resolving disputes, meeting legal obligations, and protecting the service. Retention varies by record. Browser-local data remains until you or your browser clears it. Open Analytics is currently configured for site-lifetime aggregate retention.
An account-deletion request has a seven-day cancellation period and is scheduled to complete no later than 30 days after the request. Published credits and records required for consent, security, financial, or legal obligations may remain after account deletion, where practicable without an active account link.
Your choices and privacy rights
- Use the link in a newsletter to manage or withdraw newsletter consent, and use the private withdrawal link supplied after a Pro waitlist request to withdraw those updates.
- Use your account to update available preferences, export account information, or request account deletion.
- Clear browser-local data through your browser and use supported Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track settings.
- Ask to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, or object to or restrict certain processing, where applicable. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where law permits or requires it.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. An authorized agent may submit a request where local law permits, subject to proof of authority and identity verification.
Security and international processing
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the service, including access controls and restricted private routes. No transmission or storage method is completely secure. We and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose laws may differ from those where you live.
Children
The service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
Third-party services and changes
Links, embeds, and provider services are governed by their own policies. We may update this policy as the publication or law changes. We will post the updated effective date and provide additional notice when required.
