Added the official specification chronology from 1.0 through 2.4, preserving month-only release dates and linking each milestone to its source.
Publishers and creative tools use C2PA to record an asset's origin and edits in a signed Content Credential. A reviewer can inspect the signer and check whether the associated data passes validation. The specification defines how applications bind those assertions to media. A publisher still needs to verify the depicted events and establish permission to use the asset; a valid provenance record cannot settle either question on its own.
